A public benefit gala was held in Shenzhen’s Futian District on April 3, drawing attention to the challenges faced by people with autism and calling for public support for the community.

An activity led by volunteers from the SWIS Starfire Relay Volunteer Team and supported by the Shenzhen Project Care Foundation, aimed to help older adolescents and young adults with autism practice real-world social and life skills ahead of the 19th World Autism Awareness Day.

Since its establishment in 2019, the Shenzhen Longhua District Career & Entrepreneurship Base for Person with Disabilities has achieved remarkable results: it has incubated 48 firms and organizations, created 220 jobs, 140 of which, or 63%, are held by employees with disabilities. In 2021, the base was recognized by the Guangdong Disabled Persons' Federation as the province's first "provincial-level demonstration base for entrepreneurship incubation for people with disabilities.”

During a visit to Shenzhen last September, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez toured the exhibition “Great Tides Surge along the Pearl River: 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up in Guangdong.” He noted that China’s socioeconomic progress offers a valuable reference for Cuba.
