Shenzhen will impose temporary restrictions on drones and other low-altitude flying objects from Nov. 7 to 21, according to a notice issued by the Shenzhen city government yesterday.
The restrictions will first take effect in Futian and Nanshan districts from midnight Nov. 7 through Nov. 10. They will then be extended citywide, excluding the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone, from midnight Nov. 11 through Nov. 21.
The measures cover a wide range of aircraft and airborne objects, including drones of all sizes, model aircraft, helicopters, gliders, paragliders, powered parachutes, hot-air balloons, model rockets, kites and sky lanterns.
During the designated periods, individuals, businesses and organizations are prohibited from operating these aircraft or launching airborne objects within the restricted areas.
Exceptions may be granted for special operations involving security, emergency rescue, meteorological observation, law enforcement, television broadcasting, radio monitoring and logistics transport. Such flights must receive approval from the relevant authorities in accordance with the law.
The government urged residents and organizations to comply with registration requirements and flight restrictions.
Violators will face penalties under applicable laws and regulations, while those whose actions constitute criminal offenses may face criminal prosecution.
Members of the public can report suspected violations by calling the police emergency number 110.
The notice takes effect Nov. 7 and remains valid through Nov. 21.
