Shenzhen Metro recorded 2.477 billion passenger trips in the first three quarters, up 5.2% from a year earlier, the operator has said. In August, the system ranked first nationwide in monthly passenger volume and station entries. Its passenger intensity — average daily ridership per kilometer of operating line — has led the country for 33 consecutive months. The growth follows continued network expansion. The northern extension of Metro Line 13’s second phase opened June 28, bringing Shenzhen’s rail transit network to 18 lines covering 653.7 kilometers. Another 558.64 kilometers of new rail lines are under construction.
