Shenzhen Bay Port will extend passenger clearance hours by two hours until 2 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday to accommodate increased cross-border travel during Hong Kong's Halloween celebrations, according to a notice issued by the Shenzhen Municipal Government Port Office on Thursday.
The temporary arrangement, agreed upon by the Shenzhen and Hong Kong governments, will allow passengers and authorized cross-border vehicles to use the port between midnight and 2 a.m. on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
Hong Kong is hosting a series of festive celebrations, concerts and other major events over the weekend, prompting the two governments to extend clearance services to facilitate late-night travel.
During the extended hours, Guangdong-Hong Kong cross-border coaches and private cars authorized to use Shenzhen Bay Port must cross there rather than at Huanggang Port. The existing arrangement allowing these vehicles to use Huanggang Port between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. will remain unchanged.
Cross-border private cars authorized to use Huanggang, Shatoujiao, Wenjindu and Liantang ports may continue to use Huanggang Port during the early morning hours under existing arrangements.
Operating hours at other land border crossings between Shenzhen and Hong Kong will remain unchanged.
Shenzhen's transport authorities will arrange supporting transport services during the extended hours, with details available through official transport channels.
Travelers are advised to check real-time border conditions through the "i口岸" (i Port) WeChat mini-program, avoid peak crossing periods where possible and ensure their travel documents, visas and entry permits are valid before departure.
