To celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, the Shenzhen Academy of Chinese Culture (SACC), together with the Shenzhen MSU-BIT University Education Foundation, organized a Chinese cultural experience trip for international faculty members and students from the university.

More than 20 participants visited the Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall of Futian Cultural Center on Sept. 22. The field trip was the second event in the "Love Shenzhen" City Walk series initiated by SACC, in the hope that such exchanges will connect peoples and civilizations.

The visitors toured four themed areas at the venue, learning about the unique cultural heritages of Xinjiang, Gansu, Sichuan and Guizhou, and experiencing the inclusiveness of Chinese culture.

Sitting in the black-box theater at the venue, the visitors were amazed as they watched a face-changing show of Sichuan opera and a shadow-puppet performance popular in Northwest China.

In a hands-on heritage workshop, the students learned the basics of cloisonné enamel. Guided by a patient instructor, they worked through the steps of shaping, wire inlay, color filling and glaze fixing, and created their own cloisonné enamel pieces.

After the handicraft workshop, the visitors shared their work and chatted in a relaxed mood.

"Viewing intangible heritage artworks up close, watching traditional performances and trying time-honored techniques with my own hands allowed me to touch the depth of Chinese culture and feel the essence of craftsmanship passed down through generations," said Borovik Vladimir, a Russian teacher at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University.

The SACC said it will continue its efforts in promoting traditional Chinese culture and fostering international exchange.
