French artists hold exhibitions at Pingshan Art Museum

French artists Léa Le Bricomte and Rémi Lécussan are presenting solo exhibitions at the Pingshan Art Museum.

Le Bricomte’s “Ceux Qui Se Cachent Dans Les Replis Des Collines” (Those Who Hide in the Folds of the Hills) and Lécussan’s “Écritures Automatiques” (Automatic Writings) were curated by Morgan Labar, director of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.

Labar said via video link at the opening of the exhibitions on Sept. 12 that both artists’ practices are rooted in ecology. Le Bricomte takes a poetic approach, drawing on historical and philosophical research to examine the damage inflicted on the Amazon rainforest and changes to its ecosystem — a reminder of what humanity stands to lose.

Lécussan focuses on the relationship between life and artificial intelligence (AI), capturing the tension among living organisms, machines, and AI. His use of scent and atmosphere creates an immersive environment that reflects how humans are reconnecting with the natural world.

Through installations, sculptures, and videos, Le Bricomte explores the relationship between humans and nature. Her long-term fieldwork with indigenous communities in the Amazon runs through the exhibition.
