Representatives of government departments and mainstream media organizations from APEC economies, along with scholars and experts, gathered in Shenzhen on Sept. 5 for the Asia-Pacific Media Forum, themed “Building a Path to Shared Prosperity for the Asia-Pacific Community: Media Consensus and Action.”
At the opening of the forum, Shenzhen officially launched the “Gather in Shenzhen, Create a Better Asia-Pacific” Media Cooperation Initiative, which comprises three key projects.
First, the Asia-Pacific Digital & Smart Media Shenzhen Center will be established to promote technology sharing.
Shenzhen is home to globally advanced digital and smart technologies and industries. The city is building a sophisticated technological foundation for the media sector, an open-source HarmonyOS ecosystem, digital and smart laboratories, and a range of application scenarios. The center aims to empower media content production, omnichannel distribution and performance evaluation through cutting-edge technologies.
Shenzhen is willing to share its latest technological advances with media partners across the Asia-Pacific region, explore new approaches and provide “Shenzhen solutions” for the digital transformation and growth of mainstream media organizations.
Second, the “Witness Miracles, Seek Solutions” Content Co-creation Initiative will be launched. As a compelling example of Chinese modernization, Shenzhen sincerely invites media partners from across the Asia-Pacific region to use the city as a case study and model for producing objective, authentic and multidimensional content.
The initiative aims to help decode the drivers of China’s high-quality development and explore solutions for building an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future and shared prosperity.
Third, the Asia-Pacific Media Youth Training Base will be established to promote talent exchange. Each year, media professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region — particularly young professionals under the age of 45 — will be invited to Shenzhen for study tours, site visits and training programs.
The base will serve as a platform for mutual learning and exchange, strengthening communication among young media professionals and laying a solid foundation among younger generations for an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future.
