Pakistani editor inks MoU with Shenzhen Daily

Shenzhen Daily today inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan's Daily Kasoti and Kasoti Digital to promote media cooperation, facilitate the exchange of information and content, and further strengthen people-to-people exchanges and China-Pakistan friendship.

The MoU was signed during a simple but impressive ceremony held at the Futian Shangri-La Hotel Shenzhen. Sun Jin, editor-in-chief of Shenzhen Daily, and Amjad Aziz Malik, chief editor of Daily Kasoti and Kasoti Digital, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Under the MoU, the two media organizations plan to exchange news and photo content, and explore joint media projects and collaborative coverage of important economic, cultural and social developments in Pakistan and China.

Malik said that Shenzhen Daily is an important media outlet in South China that has demonstrated considerable innovation in its digital transformation. He believes the signing of the MoU was an important step toward bringing Pakistani and Chinese media closer. Media organizations play a vital role in promoting mutual understanding and highlighting the tremendous opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, he added.

A digital resource platform produced by Shenzhen Daily provides participating media organizations with information and multimedia materials about Shenzhen, the Asia-Pacific Media Forum and APEC China 2026.

A media professional since 1982, Malik has witnessed the industry’s evolution from print to television and, more recently, digital media. "Now the future lies in digital media, so we should have smart things. In the AI era, we need to enhance our capabilities in the digital media,” said Malik.

Malik said Daily Kasoti and Kasoti Digital would particularly focus on sharing positive stories about Shenzhen, Guangdong and China with Pakistani readers, while also introducing Pakistan’s culture, economic opportunities and people to Chinese readers.

Daily Kasoti is a long-established Pakistani media organization based in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Its digital arm, Kasoti Digital, operates on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube. It provides news, analysis and public-interest content, while also promoting China-Pakistan friendship, cultural understanding and people-to-people exchanges. 

Shenzhen Daily, the only English-language daily newspaper on the southern Chinese mainland, serves as an important window connecting Shenzhen with the rest of the world. Its international communication network includes its print edition, a nine-language news portal, social media platforms and global collaborative initiatives involving international communication ambassadors, Generation Z contributors and user-generated content creators worldwide.
