Shenzhen enacts law to standardize foreign-language public signs

Shenzhen’s legislature passed a regulation Tuesday to standardize foreign-language public signs. The regulation took effect immediately as part of the city’s efforts to make public services more accessible to international visitors. It requires eight types of public venues to display foreign-language signs: government service centers; urban roads and transportation hubs, including ports of entry, the airport, railway and Metro stations, and bus stops; parks, A-rated tourist attractions and hotels rated three stars or higher; public hospitals; cultural and sports venues; international convention and exhibition centers; emergency shelters; and public sanitation facilities.
