BYD hits 10,000th flash-charging station milestone in Shenzhen

Shenzhen-based automaker BYD has completed its 10,000thflash-charging station in Longhua District, the companyannounced Friday. The milestone brings its domestic networkto 10,000 stations across 332 Chinese cities, with another6,000 planned overseas. BYD’s flash-charging system can topup a vehicle from 10% to 70% in about five minutes, and from10% to 97% in roughly nine minutes. Earlier this month, thetechnology received the German Paul Pietsch Award — makingBYD the first Chinese company to win the prize since theaward was established in 1989.
