Founded in Shenzhen in 1995 as a battery maker, BYD now spans automobiles, electronics, rail transit and new energy, ranking 91st on the Fortune Global 500. In 2025, it sold 4.6 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) worldwide, with overseas sales passing 1 million for the first time; on July 8, 2026, its 17 millionth NEV rolled off the line.

One in three EVs sold in Thailand is a BYD; in Singapore it is the top-selling car brand.
