The 2026 SIAL Guangzhou expo — the Chinese edition of the globally renowned SIAL (Salon International de l'Alimentation) food and beverage exhibition network — will be held at the Poly World Trade Center Expo (PWTC) in Guangzhou from Sept. 3 to 5. Covering catering supply chains, leisure foods, beverages, imported foods, health foods, and regional specialty products, the expo serves as a trading floor where buyers evaluate new products and channel opportunities, and a gateway for companies to enter the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and connect with international markets.
Ahead of the main event, industry leaders convened in Shenzhen for the "SIAL Food & Beverage Industry Influence and Co-creation Exchange (Shenzhen-Hong Kong Special Session)." The forum brought together media, content creators, trade associations, and buyers to decode the region's complex consumer landscape, exploring brand innovation, channel conversion, and international trade opportunities.

Complementary markets
Shenzhen and Hong Kong, while geographically close, offer fundamentally different market dynamics that together create a comprehensive testing ground for F&B brands.
Shenzhen is characterized as a "fast market" — hyper-responsive to new categories and emerging brands. Consumers embrace novelty and convenience, forcing rapid product iteration. While new products receive near-instant feedback, challenges around taste, pricing, and repurchase rates surface quickly.
Hong Kong offers a different value proposition. Its sophisticated import ecosystem, global culinary resources, and cross-border trade networks make it an essential window for international brands. Success there demands adaptation beyond flavor — including lifestyle rethinking, as seen in traditional tea houses launching "night tea" to attract younger consumers.
Health, context, and repurchase
Consumers are increasingly prioritizing clean ingredient labels, protein content, and functional benefits. Different consumption moments — from commutes to post-workout recovery — demand tailored solutions. Brands must articulate not just product features, but precisely who the product serves and when it is needed.
Crucially, visibility alone does not guarantee growth. Regional adaptation is decisive in converting awareness into sustainable repurchase. Even B2B products must translate technical specifications into tangible applications for buyers.
The SIAL platform
As an international B2B trade platform, SIAL in China brings enterprises, products, buyers, and global resources together at one marketplace. Consumer insights from the GBA — particularly around ingredient transparency and nutritional value — will inform product selection, while companies can test their innovations through direct market interaction. The upcoming three-day expo serves as a critical gateway for businesses entering South China and expanding globally.
