Shenzhen School Uniform Museum

From: Shenzhen Daily

Shenzhen School Uniform Museum officially opened on August 16, 2025, at Huaqiang Idea Park in Guangming District. This unique museum not only opens a new immersive window for the public to understand school uniform culture, but also unveils a new chapter in Guangming District's educational innovation practice of "scenario-based education."

From the "scholar's attire" of the pre-Qin period to the robes and mandarin jackets of the late Qing Dynasty and the unified Shenzhen school uniform introduced in 2002 featuring "one style, one design, city-wide use," the evolution of school uniforms spanning a thousand years vividly presents the inheritance and development of educational culture.

Visitors can not only learn about the history of educational attire and the craftsmanship behind Shenzhen's school uniforms, but also participate in hands-on creative handicraft activities related to school uniforms, creating an immersive cultural experience space.

The "treasure of the museum" is the "Shenzhen Blue" school uniform, which was once exhibited at the Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum in London. This multi-functional "air-conditioned school uniform," collected by the London V&A Museum, was independently developed by Guangdong Zhongnan Vitality Industrial Co., Ltd., a local Shenzhen apparel manufacturer.

Designed for the hot, humid, and high-temperature climate of coastal cities, with significant indoor-outdoor temperature differences, it combines DuPont Sorona cooling and antibacterial fabric with Xinjiang long-staple cotton, offering softness, elasticity, and durability. The product integrates five major functions: sun protection, insect repellence, cooling sensation, antibacterial properties, and warmth, truly achieving "wearable in all seasons and multi-purpose use."
