For many, a trip to the hospital is a stressful experience. For the elderly, people with disabilities, pregnant women, and families with young children, the journey itself can be one of the most difficult parts of the day.

Now, a new service in Shenzhen is set to change that. Shenzhen Bus Group has upgraded its barrier-free taxi service through a partnership with three key public hospitals: Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital, and Shenzhen Eye Hospital. The collaboration aims to provide a one-stop solution for special-needs groups, tackling the challenges of transportation, parking, and hospital transfers.

Specially equipped vehicles
The dedicated barrier-free taxis are fitted with a professional wheelchair lift system. Passengers in wheelchairs can board directly. Wheelchairs are securely fixed in place for a stable and safe ride, making the service ideal for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility.
Designated hospital parking spots
The service also addresses the common headache of hospital parking. The three partner hospitals have set aside dedicated barrier-free parking spaces in prime locations close to the entrance. Passengers can alight and directly access the hospitals’ accessible pathways, significantly reducing the distance they need to walk and the hassle of navigating large hospital grounds.
Professionally trained staff
All drivers have undergone specialized training in barrier-free services. They are skilled in wheelchair transfers, assisting passengers, and guiding them through hospital access routes. This expertise, combined with the hospitals’ accessible service systems, ensures a standardized and high-quality experience. Some service points are also staffed by volunteers to provide additional on-site support.
Easy booking, same fare as regular taxis
The service covers the entire city and supports pick-up from designated locations and return-trip bookings. To book, passengers can call the dedicated hotlines at 18822871495 or 15323866713.
Despite the premium service, fares are the same as for any other Shenzhen metered taxi. The vehicles charge according to the standard taxi meter with no extra service fees or premiums. This ensures that the service is accessible and affordable for those who need it most.
