The Shenzhen Children’s Park has been part of generations of local residents’ childhoods for 39 years. The 5.98-hectare park is Shenzhen’s oldest children’s theme park. After renovations, it combines nostalgic attractions with nature education, recreational facilities for visitors of all ages and public amenities. It preserves familiar childhood scenes while adding modern, technology-enabled and immersive play experiences.

The park is divided into six themed play zones. The Wu Ma, or Horse, Paradise introduces children to traditional Chinese zodiac culture through interactive games. The Shen Hou, or Monkey, Paradise focuses on forest exploration and features a tree-canopy climbing area. The Zi Shu, or Rat, Sand Mine offers sand play and an immersive simulated mining experience. The Creek Water Play Area is devoted to water-based activities.

The park’s iconic elephant slide, a childhood symbol for generations of Shenzhen residents, has been preserved in its original form and upgraded with enhanced safety features and smart technology.
All native trees were preserved during the renovation. Plant identification, ecological observation and nature education have been incorporated into the play experience, allowing children to learn about vegetation and observe ecosystems while playing outdoors. The park is designed to function as an open-air nature classroom.
The park is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. The powered amusement facilities at the Little Elephant Discovery Kingdom operate from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Admission to the park is free, as are all nonpowered play areas. Powered rides cost 9 yuan, 15 yuan or 19 yuan. Discounted multi-ride passes are also available.

The park also features Guangdong Province’s first underground, two-level automated guided vehicle parking garage, with 440 smart parking spaces. Of those, 360 are currently in use.
The garage combines entry bays, elevators and two-level automated guided vehicle robots, eliminating the need for conventional driving lanes. The robots work with elevators to automatically move vehicles in and out — aligning, transporting, storing and retrieving them without human intervention.
The garage operates 24 hours a day, allowing drivers to simply drop off their cars at the entrance and pick them up at the exit. The fastest vehicle storage time is 60 seconds.
The park opened to the public in 1987 and closed in 2022 for renovation.
