Shenzhen Children's Palace

For long-time Shenzheners, the Shenzhen Children’s Palace is more than just a cultural landmark: it represents a cherished collective memory that spans generations. 

From the outside, the building looks exactly as everyone remembers, with its original façade carefully preserved. Once inside, however, you’ll hardly recognize it. The interior is bright and open, with vibrant color combinations that give it a lively energy, and cutting-edge facilities that add a touch of sci‑tech flair.

The first floor houses a lobby and the giant dome theater. Surrounded by the 18.3‑meter‑diameter spherical screen, it’s impossible not to be awed by the sensation of being completely immersed in the film. There’s no need for VR goggles: you can experience soaring through the sky and diving into the ocean as stunning visuals unfold all around you.

On the second floor, the exhibition “Enlightenment • Explore the Big World” aims to help young visitors learn through play, think while learning, and develop innovative ideas. Offering immersive science education and interactive experiences, the hall teaches the fundamentals of optics, acoustics, electromagnetics, astronomy, mathematics and mechanics. It features over 100 hands‑on interactive installations, and at scheduled times there are special demonstrations and interactive shows that let visitors experience the magic of science up close.

Located on the third floor, “Set Sail – Innovation Workshop” is a sci‑tech innovation and aerospace‑themed exhibition. It brings together a wide range of physical experiment devices and fun interactive equipment. Stepping inside feels like entering a spaceship straight out of a sci‑fi movie. On site, you can try programming and 3D printing, or experience Faraday’s electromagnetic induction firsthand. From physics experiments and aerospace models to cutting‑edge science, knowledge is no longer confined to formulas and textbook descriptions.

If you’re a robot enthusiast, you definitely shouldn’t miss this. Here you can get up close to all kinds of robots, play ball games or chess with them, and — if you check the schedule and plan your visit — you might even catch a robot performance.

The fourth floor is an aesthetic education space, offering hands‑on activities in fine arts, handicrafts, musical instruments and more.
