Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill' set for China theatrical release Aug. 7

One of Quentin Tarantino's defining works, "Kill Bill" has captivated audiences for more than two decades with its gripping revenge narrative and Tarantino's signature graphic violence. The film holds an 8.7/10 rating on IMDb and ranks 31th on the website's Top 250 Movies list.

Now, "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair" is set to arrive in Chinese cinemas Aug. 7.

The film follows the relentless quest for revenge of a character known as the Bride, unfolding as a tale of vengeance and redemption. It sees Tarantino blending influences from Hong Kong martial arts films, Japanese samurai and chanbara cinema, and Italian spaghetti westerns to create a distinctive cinematic experience.

Originally shot as a single film with a runtime of more than four hours, the story was split into two separate releases — "Kill Bill: Volume 1" in 2003 and "Kill Bill: Volume 2* in 2004" — as the distributor concerned that its length would limit theatrical screenings.

"Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair," however, is far more than a simple combination of the two films. It removes the recap sequences that originally linked the installments, creating a smoother, uninterrupted narrative, while restoring footage that had been cut to meet ratings requirements and bringing the pacing closer to Tarantino's original vision.

For viewers who have only seen the two volumes separately, this complete edition offers a markedly different storytelling experience.

For first-time audiences, it presents the story as it was originally conceived, allowing viewers to follow the Bride on her epic journey of revenge from beginning to end.

The film has a runtime of 275 minutes. Due to its extensive stylized violence, it is recommended for adult audiences.
