A robot that makes ice cream in about 30 seconds has become the latest attraction at Honghuashan Sports Center in Guangming District, drawing curious visitors as the venue expands beyond its traditional role as a sports facility.
The robot joins a growing lineup of smart technologies at the center, including self-service tennis training machines and AI-powered tennis robots that provide around-the-clock practice support for players of different skill levels.

Since the summer of 2025, Honghuashan Sports Center has increasingly combined sports with robotics, technology education and the arts. The venue has evolved from a conventional sports facility into a multifunctional space designed to support innovation and youth development in Guangming Science City.
The center received the Gold Award for Annual Sports Venue Cases at the 11th SportIN Sports Industry Conference in January, recognizing its efforts to integrate sports and technology.
The transformation reflects Guangming’s growing demand for science and technology education and hands-on learning opportunities. With high-standard facilities and experience hosting major sporting events, the center is also expanding its capacity to stage robotics competitions and connect young participants with the district’s advanced manufacturing sector.
Since August 2025, the center has hosted several major robotics events. Three additional robot-related competitions are planned for the second half of 2026 at the sports center.
