Shenzhen logistics giant SF Express was awarded the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certificate in South Korea recently.

As the highest level of recognition in the customs credit management system, the AEO certification is globally recognized as a premier credential for corporate compliance and supply chain security. The certificate is expected to elevate SF Express’ customs clearance efficiency, international competitiveness, and compliance management in South Korea to a new level while establishing a highly efficient green channel for cross-border logistics between China and South Korea.

With the AEO certification, SF Express now enjoys various customs facilitation measures for its import and export operations. The logistics company will have lower inspection rates, prioritized customs clearance, and expedited handling during congestion or emergencies, which collectively ensure more stable transit times for cross-border e-commerce, international express delivery, and bonded logistics services between the two countries.

Leveraging the AEO mutual recognition arrangements between China, South Korea, and other nations, SF Express benefits from a system in which a single certification is recognized across multiple jurisdictions, thereby enhancing its brand image and building trust with international clients.

On the operational front, the improved customs clearance efficiency enabled by AEO certification directly reduces warehousing, demurrage, and logistics costs, accelerates cargo turnover, and helps businesses optimize their supply chain operations. SF Express can now offer more reliable transit times for cross-border e-commerce platforms, manufacturing enterprises, trading companies, and individual consumers, strengthening its capacity to handle high-value and urgent shipments. It can also provide multinational corporations with solutions that meet international supply chain security standards, helping attract a wider pool of premium clients.

China and South Korea officially implemented their AEO mutual recognition agreement in 2014. With the certification, SF Express can enjoy equivalent customs facilitation in China, South Korea, and 60 other countries and regions that have mutual recognition agreements with China.

Li Shuang, head of SF Express South Korea, said that the AEO certification is a new starting point for the company’s international expansion and high-quality development. By building and managing its own express hubs, SF Express aims to further optimize cross-border logistics workflows, improve cargo handling efficiency, and shorten overall customs clearance and delivery times.
