Thai contemporary prints bridge cultures

“The Other Shore, This Shore — 2026: Thailand Contemporary Printmaking Exhibition” features 60 contemporary prints from Thailand, offering visitors a glimpse into the country’s diverse artistic traditions and evolving creative practices.

The featured works span a wide range of subjects, techniques and artistic approaches. Together, they explore how Thai printmakers are drawing inspiration from cultural heritage while developing contemporary forms of expression.

Most of the works were selected by Silpakorn University, whose Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts has played an important role in the development of printmaking education in Thailand.

The exhibition title refers both to the physical distance between China and Thailand and to the relationship between ideals and lived experience. Through the shared language of printmaking, the exhibition seeks to encourage dialogue and mutual understanding between artists and audiences in the two countries.

It also builds on ties between Silpakorn University and the China·Guanlan Original Printmaking Base. Organizers said they hope the exhibition will lead to further exchanges and provide future opportunities for works from Guanlan to be showcased in Thailand.
