As an official stop on the PPA Tour Asia, the tournament marks Shenzhen's debut as the host of a Professional Pickleball Association (PPA)-sanctioned international event. It is expected to attract leading professional players from across the region.
A sport blending elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, pickleball has seen a surge in popularity in recent years.
Alongside the professional competition, the tournament will feature an amateur division open to public registration, giving local pickleball enthusiasts the chance to compete as part of an international event.
Visitors can also enjoy a pickleball carnival running alongside the tournament, with trial sessions and beginner-friendly activities designed to introduce more people to the sport and encourage wider public participation.
The tournament's selection of Shenzhen as a host city reflects the city's proven track record in hosting major international sporting events, its high-quality sports venues, and its well-established sports industry. In recent years, Shenzhen has continued to expand its portfolio of international competitions, attracting events in both traditional sports, such as football, basketball and tennis, and fast-growing emerging sports.
Further details about the tournament will be announced in the coming weeks.
