Lianhuashan Glades Music Festival

Each November, the outdoor Lianhuashan Glades Music Festival brings classical music to the public free of charge. Since its inception in 2014, this acclaimed festival has attracted symphony orchestras and musicians from around the world, including David Garrett and Lang Lang. As one of China’s largest outdoor classical music festivals, it has become a shining cultural highlight of Shenzhen.
The festival is guided by three key principles: classical, publicly accessible, and international. Centered on the idea of “enjoying classical music while sitting on the grass,” the festival has steadily improved its quality over the years and has grown into an annual event that strengthens the bond between Shenzhen residents, classical music, and nature.
Music critic Gu Xiaojin said, “Classical music is often considered niche and exclusive to a few. However, the Lianhuashan Glades Music Festival has made classical music widely known to the public. By offering free admission every year, it has enhanced citizens’ sense of happiness.”
Composer Gu Yong added: “Europe has its outdoor concerts at Waldbühne Berlin — we have the Lianhuashan Glades Music Festival. With Shenzhen’s innovative, vibrant approach and its forward-looking international perspective, this classical music feast for citizens is both high-quality and down-to-earth.”
