Shenzhen unveils smart mini program for streamlined drone filing

The Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau has officially launched a new WeChat mini program, known as "圳在飞," to streamline drone regulation. The platform allows operators to easily complete pre-flight filing by registering personal details — including name, ID number, and residential address — alongside drone specifications such as brand, model, and serial number.

The system dynamically maps green zones (where drones under 120 meters are permitted) and no-fly zones. Operators can select takeoff points via an interactive map and input flight details, including the nature of the mission, altitude, and operating hours. For those applying to fly in airspace control areas, the program automatically triggers warnings for restricted zones and prompts users to upload official airspace approval letters.

All pre-flight records are securely stored on the platform, enabling operators to review flight parameters in real-time. While challenges such as illegal "black flying" persist, Shenzhen is adopting a multi-pronged strategy to ensure the safe integration of drones into the city's airspace.
