HK celebrates 29th anniversary of return with citywide freebies, events

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will roll out a wide range of promotions and events to mark the 29th anniversary of its return to the motherland on July 1.
Organized by the HKSAR government and local community sectors, these offers and activities span public transport, culture, arts, leisure, catering and retail, bringing festive cheer to residents across the city.
Public transport giveaways and free rides
All tram routes will offer free rides to passengers from July 1 to 3. The MTR will give away 71,000 single rides through a lucky draw on July 1 and provide Airport Express discount offers. Moreover, free rides on several ferry routes will be offered to the public on July 1.

Free access to government venues
On July 1, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will open many indoor and outdoor recreational facilities to the public for free, along with the permanent exhibitions at the Hong Kong Science Museum and Hong Kong Space Museum, and the Hong Kong Wetland Park.
Cultural and leisure highlights
Culture lovers can enjoy free admission on July 1 to designated exhibitions at M+ and all thematic exhibitions at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, both located in the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Additionally, 14 projects under the Revitalizing Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme will offer extra free guided tours from mid-June to early July, along with dining, shopping, and accommodation discounts.
Ocean Park Hong Kong will launch a special “one ticket, two parks” promotion. The Peak Tram, Ngong Ping 360 and Tai Kwun will also offer discounted tickets on July 1.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club will host the “Hong Kong Reunification Celebration Race Day” at Sha Tin Racecourse on July 1, with free admission to public enclosures at both Sha Tin and Happy Valley racecourses.
Dining and shopping deals
Over 1,000 restaurants and merchants, around 100 shopping malls, major department stores, Hong Kong International Airport, and Hong Kong Science Park will offer discounts and gifts.
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will provide deals at some public markets. From July 1 to 7, enjoy a 29% discount on selected products via the “Local Fish and Veg Direct” platform (online, app, or physical stores).
