Shenzhen-based global leader in smart imaging, Insta360, has launched Luna Ultra, the industry’s first flagship dual-camera gimbal camera, marking the gimbal camera market’s transition into the AI-powered dual camera era.
Developed in collaboration with Leica, the Luna Ultra features dual Leica Summicron optical lenses, addressing the long-standing limitation of fixed wide-angle focal lengths in traditional gimbal cameras. The device integrates 8K Dolby Vision and professional-grade 10-bit I-Log, covering five essential focal lengths ranging from 1x to 12x. Its 1-inch 8K Leica main sensor boasts an F1.8 large aperture and 14 stops of dynamic range to preserve details in both highlights and shadows. Complementing this is a 1/1.3-inch Leica super-telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom, and a maximum 12x zoom, with a minimum focusing distance of just 15 centimeters, making it suitable for capturing everything from vast landscapes to macro shots.

The Luna Ultra is designed to function as an “AI mobile photographer” capable of intelligent tracking and automated composition. It supports 4K portrait videos and ultra-clear live photos, making it ideal for travel, vlogging, and professional recording.
For the first time, Leica’s iconic color aesthetics have been incorporated into dynamic video through three exclusive color presets — Leica Chrome, Leica Natural, and Leica Vivid — alongside six cinematic film filters. Users can also share their specific shooting parameters via a QR code. A standout feature is the detachable image transmission remote screen, which supports high-definition previews and full control from up to 20 meters away. With a built-in wireless microphone, the remote screen allows users to frame selfies and group shots with precision, eliminating the guesswork of traditional “blind shooting.”
Technical innovation continues with an industry-first first-person head-tracking module. When paired with a neck mount or backpack clip, the camera can synchronize its movement with the user’s head, enabling a hands-free “point-and-look” immersive filming experience. The device also features intelligent multi-person tracking and nine golden-ratio composition aids, ensuring the subject remains locked in the frame during dance or group vlogs.
As the world’s first gimbal camera to support 8K 30fps Dolby Vision, the Luna Ultra provides high dynamic range and precise color reproduction, allowing for clear details even when 8K footage is cropped. For action enthusiasts, it supports 4K 120fps high-frame-rate slow-motion recording.
For still photography, the Luna Ultra can output 37-megapixel ultra-clear photos and 200-megapixel 2:1 wide-format panoramic shots, complete with the exclusive Leica watermark. Professional creators can use the 10-bit I-Log format with 14 stops of dynamic range for advanced color grading and multi-camera synchronization. Powering these features is an “AI triple-core architecture” consisting of a Qualcomm 4nm flagship chip and dual independent imaging chips. This setup enables 4K 60fps real-time night scene enhancement, suppressing noise and motion blur in low-light environments like cityscapes or starlit campsites.
The device is equipped with a 1550mAh battery that provides up to four hours of continuous shooting, and can be charged to 80% in just 23 minutes. Additionally, its 47GB of built-in high-speed storage ensures that users can capture daily moments even without an SD card.
