Guanlan River Greenway and wetland park

Looking for a new way to explore Longhua?
The Guanlan River Greenway offers 14.2 kilometers of continuous waterfront trails for cycling, walking, sightseeing and outdoor recreation. Stretching from the bridge near Shenzhen Art High School in southern Longhua to the Shenzhen-Dongguan border, the greenway connects four subdistricts — Longhua, Guanhu, Fucheng and Guanlan — while linking wetlands, cultural landmarks and sports facilities along the river.
Whether you're planning a cycling trip, a leisurely stroll or a weekend picnic, here's how to make the most of your visit.
Cycle the full route
One of the greenway’ biggest attractions is its uninterrupted cycling path. The route is fully paved and suitable for both casual riders and experienced cyclists.
Along the way, visitors can enjoy river views, landscaped greenery and a series of scenic viewpoints that showcase the transformation of the Guanlan River waterfront.
Explore riverside heritage
For those who prefer walking, the Guanlan Ancient Market section offers a combination of history and scenery.
The historic market area preserves the atmosphere of a traditional Lingnan commercial town and remains one of Longhua's best-known cultural landmarks. Across the river, the historical Laojie Park features reconstructed Hakka-style buildings that reflect the region's long relationship with the Guanlan River.
Boardwalks and riverside paths connect the two sites, making this one of the most rewarding sections of the greenway for a relaxed afternoon walk.
Enjoy wetlands
The Guanlan River Wetland Park section is among the most scenic stretches of the greenway.
Observation decks overlook the river and surrounding wetlands, while seasonal flowers add color to the landscape throughout the year. The area is also known for attracting egrets and other water birds, making it a popular stop for nature lovers and photographers.
Open lawns and riverside spaces provide plenty of room for picnics and outdoor gatherings.
Relax by river
Visitors looking for a slower pace can head to the Xingye Corridor Camping Base near the Guanlan Water Purification Plant.
The site offers open riverside spaces suitable for camping, picnicking and evening relaxation. Visitors are welcome to bring their own tents and picnic equipment.
Play sports
The greenway is also designed for active recreation. Near Longhua Sports Center, visitors will find a seven-a-side soccer pitch, two basketball courts and children’s activity areas. Elevated walkways connect the facilities to the surrounding greenway network, creating a convenient destination for families and sports enthusiasts.
Future plans for the area include a 600-meter recreational kayaking course near the Shuitian Bridge section.
