Nineteen-year-old Shenzhen native Xie Yonglin secured his maiden FIA Formula 3 victory during Saturday’s Sprint Race in Monaco. While Japan’s Hiyu Yamakoshi originally crossed the finish line first, Xie inherited the win after Yamakoshi was disqualified during post-race scrutineering for a technical regulation breach. This landmark victory makes Xie the first Chinese driver in history to stand on an FIA F3 podium. Born in Shenzhen in 2006, Xie’s racing journey began in karting at the age of 8. In 2019 he became the first Chinese junior driver to win the IAME Asia Cup, signaling his rise as one of China’s most promising motorsport racers.
