Blue Ocean Capital has established its Shenzhen headquarters in Guangming Science City, marking a key milestone in Guangming District’s efforts to advance the integration of government, industry, academia, research, healthcare, and investment in the brain science and neuroengineering sector.

Blue Ocean Capital is a leading investment firm focusing on innovative biotech, medical device, and med-tech companies with growth and buyout strategies, according to the company’s LinkedIn page.

Frank Yang, founding partner and CEO of Blue Ocean Capital, described the move as a strategic step to deepen the firm’s engagement with Guangming and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s scientific innovation ecosystem.

In collaboration with Guangming Science City, Blue Ocean Capital has also launched a recurring science communication series called “Easy Science Talks,” which will be held every two months. The initiative aims to create a sustained platform for knowledge exchange, bringing together life science researchers, clinical experts, investors, and entrepreneurs to discuss brain science, brain-machine interfaces, and related hard-tech fields.

The program emphasizes open, informal dialogue to share advances in research, clinical practice, and commercialization, fostering closer collaboration among academia, industry, and capital.

Guangming District now hosts more than 80 companies in brain science and neuroengineering, forming a complete value chain spanning research equipment, electrode materials, brain-machine interface systems, and clinical applications. The district’s brain science sector has a combined valuation of over 10 billion yuan.
