Shenzhen has introduced a suite of new measures to further remove payment troubles for overseas visitors to Qianhai, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday. Under the new measures, major merchants in Qianhai will be encouraged to install point‑of‑sale (POS) terminals that accept foreign bank cards. To meet cash needs, banks are encouraged to increase the number of ATMs that allow international withdrawals and currency exchange machines at key tourist attractions and upscale hotels. Priority will be given to connecting e‑wallets from APEC member economies with local payment systems, with “palm recognition” payment technology to be introduced at iconic locations, including Qianhai Snow World, the “Bay Glory” Ferris wheel, and the K11 ECOAST shopping mall.
