Engineers conducted emergency inspections at the scene after the blaze damaged sections of the expressway’s roadside noise barrier structure. Authorities said deformation to the steel support beams was limited and the main load-bearing structure remained stable, with no risk of collapse.

Repair crews inspect and reinforce damaged sections of the roadside noise barrier structure on Shenzhen’s Nanping Expressway overnight after a three-vehicle collision triggered a fire Wednesday.
Traffic gradually resumed overnight as repair crews cleared debris and resurfaced fire-damaged asphalt. By 6:30 a.m., four eastbound lanes and three westbound lanes had reopened, while one westbound lane remained closed for emergency use and ongoing repair work.
Authorities said additional repairs to the road surface, lane markings and damaged noise barrier roof structure would continue during off-peak traffic hours.
Reporters revisiting the scene today observed charred marks on both the roadway and the damaged sound barrier, although traffic in both directions had returned to normal.
Dashboard camera footage recorded by a passing driver captured the moment the vehicles collided before flames engulfed the scene.
