Jointly hosted by the Bao’an District Enterprise Service Center, the Bao’an District Bureau of Commerce, the Bao’an District Investment Promotion Bureau and Shenzhen Qianhai International Business e-Station, the event brought together more than 100 representatives from local firms in manufacturing, logistics and exhibitions, along with a business delegation from Nuremberg led by Mayor Marcus König.

In his speech, König said Nuremberg is a globally recognized innovation center, with world-leading exhibitions and a strong foundation in science and education. He expressed strong recognition of Bao’an’s manufacturing strength and innovative energy, and called for deeper all-round cooperation among firms, research institutions, and education partners in priority areas such as AI, digital transformation, and sustainable development.

A core manufacturing hub in Shenzhen, Bao’an has achieved distinctive advantages in industrial supply-chain support, making it one of the most popular destinations for German companies expanding in China.

In May 2024, the Nuremberg-area international organizations and foreign business associations cluster was established in Bao’an, with five German associations and institutions among the first to settle in the cluster.

So far, 43 German-invested firms have established operations in Bao’an, with a total investment of US$275 million. Well-known German firms such as Lufthansa Systems and Covestro have subsidiaries in the district. Bao’an's cooperation with Germany has evolved from isolated enterprise-to-enterprise matching to a structured, systemtic model covering multiple areas and the full value chain.

The on-site matching sessions were marked by active, in-depth discussions. Company representatives from Bao’an brought their core products and technical solutions to engage with German counterparts on key topics including technology collaboration, market expansion, mutual investment, and supply-chain synergy.

“The event perfectly aligned with our European expansion goals,” said Li Wei, project manager at Shenzhen YUTO Packaging Technology Co.

As a leading domestic provider of high-end packaging and printing solutions, Shenzhen YUTO has long partnered with German firms in the food, beverage, and advanced manufacturing sectors. Li said he expected the event to unlock further opportunities in the European market.

Julia Bangerth, chief operating officer of German participant DATEV eG, said Bao’an’s well-developed industrial ecosystem and innovation capability were impressive.

“We have seen the core competitiveness of Bao’an firms in advanced manufacturing and consumer electronics. Their products and technologies are fully capable of entering European markets,” she said, adding that she hopes to find suitable Chinese partners to closely integrate German technical standards with Bao’an’s manufacturing strengths for mutual benefits.

Bao’an’s rapid industrial growth provides a strong backdrop for the cross-border cooperation.

In 2025, the district’s gross domestic product surpassed 540 billion yuan (US$79.65 billion), and its above-scale industrial output value reached 1.1 trillion yuan, with total added industrial value remaining No. 1 in Shenzhen for three consecutive years.

Bao'an also has 7,402 national-level high-tech firms, ranking first nationally for nine consecutive years among county-level entities, and 364 national-level “specialized, refined, unique and new” “Little Giant” firms.

Bao’an has successfully cultivated five industrial clusters each valued at 1 trillion yuan. The added value of its strategic emerging industries has reached 258.67 billion yuan, accounting for 45.4% of the district's GDP.

Spanning all 31 manufacturing categories, Bao’an is home to 57,000 manufacturing firms. Notably, the district leads the global and national markets in numerous segments, boasting 23 products with the world's largest market share and 36 products ranking first nationwide.

The event-driven approach also highlighted Bao’an’s end-to-end, full-cycle services to support overseas expansion.

Bao’an recently launched the Enterprise Overseas Service Center (Foreign Investment Service Center), an overseas service alliance, and an overseas service marketplace, integrating both government resources and market mechanisms to provide comprehensive support for businesses, from compliance guidance and financial assistance to localized matchmaking.
