Guangming officials receive APEC and AI strategy training

Guangming District officials attended the fifth session of the 2026 APEC foreign affairs training on May 14, focusing on “Seizing APEC Opportunities and Harnessing AI Advantages.”

Liu Dian, associate researcher at Fudan University and director of strategic research at Tsinghua University’s AI International Governance Institute, briefed about 50 officials, volunteers, and foreign-language inspectors on global trends, AI and digital governance, urban internationalization, and regional foreign cooperation.

Liu stressed that Shenzhen should approach APEC strategically, using AI to drive long-term internationalization. Key topics included AI’s global impact, Shenzhen’s role as a benchmark for AI integration, urban internationalization reforms, the business environment, AI-enabled industry showcases, and green digital cooperation.

After the lecture, Liu engaged with attendees on AI capabilities and governance, discussing potential long-term collaboration mechanisms with the Guangming District Foreign Affairs Bureau.
