A specialized salon focusing on investment opportunities in Bangladesh was recently held at the Bao’an Customs Building, serving as a high-level platform for local manufacturing enterprises to expand into South Asia.

Hosted by the Bao’an District Enterprise Service Center, the event brought together representatives from over a dozen Bao'an-based companies in sectors such as semiconductors, energy storage, robotics, and new energy. The participants engaged in deep discussions with Gao Zhan, secretary general of the Foundation for Yunus Social Business China (FYSB China), to identify growth prospects and collaborative pathways in this emerging market.

Bao’an is rapidly building a support system for its enterprises aiming to expand overseas. The matchmaking event focused not only on immediate market opportunities but also on establishing long-term cooperative mechanisms. FYSB China was established by Professor Muhammad Yunus, the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and founder of Grameen Bank, with a mission to promote social business in the Greater China region. The foundation advocates for a “Three Zero World” — zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions — encouraging companies to create social value alongside economic returns.

During the salon, Gao provided a systematic overview of Bangladesh’s macro-environment and industrial potential. He highlighted that with a population exceeding 170 million, Bangladesh offers a vast market with steadily growing domestic demand. Gao emphasized the significant industrial complementary roles played by China and Bangladesh in fields such as consumer electronics, new energy, and medical equipment.

He revealed that FYSB China is working to establish a localized service platform in Bangladesh and exploring a cooperation mechanism. The initiative aims to assist Chinese firms with local registration, compliance consulting, industrial matching, and social resource linking, helping them transition from mere “product export” to full “brand and ecosystem localization.”

Participants actively discussed critical issues such as financial settlement, local legal compliance, and distribution channel construction at the interactive session during the event. Many participants noted that the salon deepened their understanding of the Bangladeshi market and introduced the possibility of achieving a win-win outcome through the social business model. One enterprise representative remarked that while their previous focus was solely on costs and markets, they are now considering how to create local jobs and integrate into communities for more sustainable development — a vision that aligns with the mission of FYSB China.

A representative from the Bao’an District Enterprise Service Center said that the center plans to continuously optimize its service system to ensure that “Bao’an Intelligent Manufacturing” achieves high-quality growth and a stronger presence in the global marketplace.
