Conference held to promote Shenzhen, CEE trade and culture

A conference focusing on the economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation between Shenzhen and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries was held in Nanshan District on Monday.

Organized by Shenzhen-Central and Eastern European Countries Economy and Culture Association, the event marked the association’s 10th anniversary.

Gu Ting, deputy director general of the Shenzhen People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Liu Han, director of the Nanshan District Foreign Affairs Office, attended the conference and delivered speeches.

H.E. Dario Mihelin, Croatian Ambassador to China, H.E. Dan Horia Maxim, Romanian Ambassador to China and Ms. Patrícia S. Nagy, Commercial Consul of the Consulate General of Hungary in Guangzhou, attended and addressed the event.

Professor Xu Jianling, president of Shenzhen Polytechnic University, and Zhang Xiao, head of the publicity department of Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, also shared their insights.

Officials from Shenzhen Polytechnic University and EKA University of Applied Sciences exchange a signed memorandum of cooperation during the conference in Nanshan District.

A highlight of the conference was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Shenzhen Polytechnic University and EKA University of Applied Sciences. Professor Shang Quanyu, former director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, was honored for his decades of dedication to promoting Chinese language education.

The Latvian University Choir of Faculty and Students, visiting Shenzhen for the first time, later performed with students from Shenzhen universities at Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center.
