Jinan University determines new campus site in Shenzhen

Construction of the new campus of Jinan University Shenzhen is expected to speed up following the signing of cooperation agreements with relevant departments in Shenzhen, according to a recently unveiled statement on the the WeChat official account of the university.

The new campus is located in Liuyue Community, Henggang Street, Longgang District, covering an area of approximately 410.1 acres.

Jinan University is one of China’s oldest institutions of higher learning and the first university for overseas Chinese established by the government. In 2017 and 2022, it was consecutively selected for the national "Double First-Class" initiative.

Owning five campuses in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai,Jinan University covers a total area of more than 2 million square meters. It also has 10 affiliated hospitals, including four tertiary hospitals.

The current campus of Jinan University in Shenzhen is located in Nanshan District, offering multiple majors such as tourism management and e-commerce. Among them, tourism management is a national first-class undergraduate major.

The completion of the new Longgang campus will not only expand the university's disciplinary reach and educational resources but also inject new impetus into the development of higher education, talent cultivation, and regional innovation in Shenzhen, particularly in Longgang.

As projects like the Jinan University Longgang campus advance, Shenzhen is gradually building a more comprehensive and diverse higher education ecosystem, steadily strengthening its scientific and educational competitiveness within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
