The Bao’an District Cross-Border E-Commerce Association (BCBEA) held its inaugural general meeting at the Zhimei Town Cross-Border E-Commerce Industrial Park on April 17. Xu Chunwei, chairman of Zhimei Technology, was elected as the association’s first president. The inauguration marks a new milestone for the industry as it enters a phase of more organized and collaborative development.
Shenzhen’s cross-border e-commerce import and export volume has ranked first among major Chinese cities for four consecutive years. Currently, 16 of the world’s top 20 e-commerce platforms have established a presence in the city, and one-third of China’s listed cross-border e-commerce companies are based in Shenzhen. The city’s support system, featuring independent sites and overseas warehouses, continues to mature, with over 1,000 pilot enterprises achieving a cumulative trade volume of nearly 100 billion yuan (US$14.67 billion).
The BCBEA is a nonprofit social organization composed of cross-border e-commerce sellers, integrated industrial and trading enterprises, manufacturers, service providers, specialized industrial parks, and research institutions. Leveraging Bao’an’s “strong industrial clusters + robust supply chains + efficient logistics,” the association is dedicated to building a service platform that integrates resources, bridges government and enterprises, and enables compliance. Its ultimate goal is to help Bao’an become a world-class cross-border e-commerce center within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
As a major industrial and foreign trade hub in Shenzhen, Bao’an possesses a robust manufacturing foundation and a complete supply chain, forming a significant industrial cluster, alongside the policy advantages of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone. Bao’an’s unique advantages—proximity to production and efficient logistics — are rapidly being converted into core competitiveness for global expansion. The establishment of the BCBEA is seen as a timely move to meet the industry's demand for collective growth and to optimize government-enterprise synergy.
Local business leaders have expressed high expectations for the new organization. Zhang Kunye, general manager of Hongtuo Weiye, stated that he hopes the association will help more manufacturing enterprises expand into overseas markets through cross-border platforms. Wu Keqiang, director of the International Sales Department at Dahon Tech, added that he looks forward to the association providing high-quality resource connections for member companies.
