The Bao’an District Science and Technology Innovation Bureau and JD.com co-hosted the JD · Bao’an Intelligent Robotics Ecological Matchmaking Conference on April 17. The event gathered numerous representatives from the robotics supply chain and investment institutions to explore collaborative opportunities in one of China’s most dynamic industrial hubs.
As a cornerstone of Shenzhen’s industrial sector, Bao’an reported a total output value of 1.1 trillion yuan (US$161.37 billion) for enterprises above the designated size, referring to those with an annual operating revenue of at least 20 million yuan, in 2025, ranking second among China’s top 100 industrial districts. The district is home to 90,000 manufacturing enterprises, with the number of newly listed companies topping Shenzhen for two consecutive years.
In the field of robotics, Bao’an has established a comprehensive industrial cluster covering everything from core components to complete machine manufacturing and system integration. The district holds a leading national position in core components such as controllers, motors, and joint modules, boasting industry leaders like Topband, Zhaowei Machinery & Electronic Co., Ltd, TC Drive and Zero Err.
During the conference, JD.com detailed its multi-faceted layout for the robotics industry. Li Juan, vice president of JD Group, said that the company will leverage its industrial parks, retail channels, and AI capabilities to deeply integrate with Bao’an’s industrial strengths.
The collaboration will focus on four key areas: developing specialized industrial carriers for R&D and testing; integrating robotics firms into JD’s retail and service ecosystem for brand building; providing data and AI support for model training through real-world business scenarios; and offering customized, integrated supply chain solutions covering everything from warehousing to after-sales maintenance.
JD.com also issued a global procurement call for embodied intelligent robots during the event. This move underscores JD’s strategy of using real-world operational needs to drive technological implementation and fostering industrial synergy through its massive platform capabilities.
JD.com, which has topped the list of China’s Top 500 Private Enterprises — ranked by annual operating revenue — for four consecutive years, is aggressively expanding its strategic footprint in this sector. In 2026, the group launched its Intelligent Robotics Industry Acceleration 2.0 Plan, which opens up its diverse business scenarios including retail, logistics, health, and technology to partners. Through large-scale procurement and resource integration, JD aims to help robotics companies expand their market reach and technical capabilities.
