Shenzhen's largest temple fair begins in Bao'an

The Sanyuesan Temple Fair of Beidi (the North Deity),kicked off yesterday in Xixiang Subdistrict, Bao’an District.As Shenzhen’s largest traditional temple fair, the event willrun through April 22. The 500-year-old fair celebrates thebirthday of Beidi, a deity traditionally worshiped in southernand eastern China for his connection to water — a naturalresource essential to farming and fishing. The birthday fallson Sanyuesan, the third day of the third month in the Chineselunar calendar, which this year lands on April 19.



The Sanyuesan Temple Fair of Beidi (the North Deity), kicked off yesterday in Xixiang Subdistrict, Bao’an District. As Shenzhen’s largest traditional temple fair, the event will run through April 22.
