Dapeng-Sanmen Island ferry route launched

A new ferry route connecting Dongchong in Dapeng New Area and Sanmen Island in Huizhou City was launched on April 7, offering the first cross-city island-hopping service for tourists.

The route had previously faced scattered operations, inconsistent fares, and multiple boarding points, creating inconvenience and safety concerns. Since 2025, Shenzhen and Huizhou authorities have coordinated to standardize operations. Local village committees and ferry operators have established a joint management system, while maritime, police, and coastal defense departments have provided guidance on safety protocols and supervision measures.

Under the new system, operators follow a unified schedule and fare structure, use a whitelist for vessels, and maintain real-time communication for emergencies on board.

Sanmen Island offers seafood in Mawan Fishing Village, sandy beaches at Beikou Moon Bay, and panoramic views from the lighthouse.

Authorities plan to expand the service with integrated tickets, island transfers, and guided experiences to enhance the cross-city island tourism experience.
