Gametopia welcomes game industry startups

A new industrial park was unveiled on April 3 within Kexing Science Park in Nanshan District, offering office spaces for game companies with annual revenues between 20 million yuan (US$2.8 million) and 500 million yuan.

Spanning 50,000 square meters, the Game Industry Cooperation Park provides rent subsidies to companies that settle there — with 40% covered by the park operator and up to an additional 40% by the local government. After subsidies, the rent can be as low as 50 yuan per square meter.

Of this total, 5,000 square meters are designated for startups and named Gametopia. Built by the Nanshan District Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and Kexing Science Park, and operated by iDreamSky, Gametopia focuses on early-stage startups. Once selected, startup teams can enjoy low-cost office space of up to 200 square meters in the first year, and continue to receive subsidies in line with the park's policies in the second and third years.

Gametopia pledges to help startups build their brands and connect with industry resources. It offers services in seven areas: financing, publishing, technology middle platform, global expansion, marketing, computing power supply, and ecosystem building. Professional service teams provide one-stop support for resident companies, including policy and game license consultation, compliance guidance, as well as access to investment and financing, IP licensing, and talent and partnership opportunities. The space also offers game security, marketing, and cloud services.

Nanshan District has continued to strengthen its support for the game industry. In December 2024, it established a district-level game industry task force, which was upgraded in December 2025 to coordinate policy formulation, corporate services, and ecosystem building. The district supports events such as the 2025 Dream Game Creation Competition and the 2025 Next Star global challenge for rising entrepreneurs in the game industry.

Nanshan District has also introduced the nation's first traffic voucher and model voucher programs to subsidize promising startups. The vouchers can cover part of companies’ traffic expenses and AI service fees charged by designated cloud service providers. Startups moving into Gametopia are eligible for the model vouchers.

Additionally, the district offers rewards of up to 600,000 yuan per person to outstanding talent from eligible startup game companies.

Nanshan District also encourages the development of original premium games. For original game products or those fully owned by the company, a reward equal to 10% of the product’s actual first-year revenue is provided. Organizers of offline cultural and esports events related to games may receive up to 8 million yuan in support.

Thanks to these policies, Nanshan now boasts a robust game industry ecosystem. By 2025, the district’s game industry had generated over 100 billion yuan in annual revenue and was home to nine listed game companies, including Tencent, iDreamSky, Leiting Games, Glacier Network, Zen-Game, and Dameng Longtu. Other companies cover the entire value chain, including R&D technology, marketing and distribution, data analysis, and game hardware.

Gametopia offers office spaces for game companies with annual revenues between 20 million yuan and 500 million yuan.
