Shen Xiaoming (2nd L) introduces the Meisha Marine Library to visitors.

At the opening ceremony, the library’s director, Shen Xiaoming, unveiled three key projects. “The first project involves building a visual database of marine creatures from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by collecting videos of ocean species filmed by both professionals and amateurs,” Shen explained.

“The other two projects will offer a series of ocean education courses for public school students and launch a white paper on sustainable seafood consumption for the local food and beverage industry and diners,” he added.

In addition to being a treasure trove of knowledge, the library also functions as a small museum, displaying ancient nautical charts and marine life specimens that bring the books’ content to life.
